It used to be the case you could whack the Angel in a Lightning Greaves and that was good games. You simply cannot rely on a 4 toughness artifact creature to stay in play against much of anything even if you have trickery to protect it. What has changed is not the power level of the Platinum Angel but the availability and effectiveness of removal. The stats are also perfectly acceptable to be doing some work outside of the can't lose condition. The effect is powerful and unique and the card is easily cast or put into play given that it is a 7 drop. These include Angel of Serenity, Archangel of Tithes and Dawnbreak Reclaimer.Īnother angel who is more a thing of the past than it is prominent in the current cube. There are also a few newer angels that have yet to shine their light fully int he cube but may well one day creep into such a list. To name a few of those I felt guilt for leaving off the list we have Karmic Guide, Raya Dawnbringer and Blinding Angel. There are many Angels who have been much more prominent in the past in cube that are not on this list but none quite so powerful and certainly none for as long as Exalted. Then came along another Angel around the era of the titans that instantly ended the career of Exalted Angel in the cube. Battlegrace is the most comparable card to have seen print since. All the way upto Alara block the power creep still hadn't caught up with Exalted Angel. It was a creature that was control in nature but that could reasonably find itself in more aggressive decks too simply because it was so much more powerful than the alternatives on offer. The life swing and high toughness made it a nightmare for agro decks and the versatile casting options make it safe to play against more control decks. Decent stats with flying, lifelink and the capacity to be attacking on turn four with no ramp at all. Before Titans and basically every other good top end finsher card in the cube Exalted Angel was the thing. It is a talking point if nothing else! Merry Christmas one and all.Įxhalted Angel no longer sees much play at all but for a long time it was king of the top end. In the grand scheme of things this list is about as arbitrary as most of the content here. It is not like your deck needs at least one angel so you want to compare the merits of those on offer. Angels is not really a tribe nor a thing you need to fill a slot with. I'm not even really sure what the merit of comparing the angels is. I even wrote them (developer) a letter asking them to check the GOG out so let's see what happens. This is about as Christmas themed as one can go with a sensible Magic article. I encourage you to check it out at the web and give it a wish if you like. It's dark, moody, grim, a bit creepy, a bit gory, atmospheric, clunky, shitty and awesome. It is indeed a crappy game, but oh so great at the same time. Now a few days back I got this strange feeling of crave, this need to replay the game I played 12 years ago, brain started to fill with thoughts and memories about it and at last, what a relief! I finally playing it now. Loved it! All the games I played then were somehow great no matter how shitty they were lol.
#Shade wrath of angels 2015 Pc
A year or so later I finally got me a PC and beat that game at home. I almost beat that game in one night, but didn't. Aaand the pipe cracked, slow flooding started, but even I was afraid of the flood and the game I continued to play until dawn.
That was really a creepy looking cellar with no toilet, poor lightning and lots of water pipes. So I played this oh so great game at night, in the dark, locked cellar all night long with my pants almost wet. That night I was locked in alone, the club was located in the cellar of a multi-storey building btw. I had to fool my mom that it's ok and a lot of people are also there so she could let me go. The funny thing about these "nights" that there was no staff to stay with the customer and they had to lock you in. One time I payed for a night and I played Shade. There was an option to pay for a night and I did that a couple of times. Many people were not able to buy PCs or consoles (consoles never were really that popular here actually, except NES) so they hanged out at places like that. It was 2004 and I had no PC, at the time the so called computer gaming clubs were still very popular. Now it's only a few clicks, but enough of that.
Yeah, smell associations with games are a thing. It was cool because there was really something that you can connect to the game - a feeling, a memory or even a smell. You all know that time when there was no internet and you had to buy games in stores, borrow or pirate them. That was a time when I had a little story about almost any game I played back then.
and I have this nice feeling of nostalgia and a little story to share with you.
